Italian artist and singer DENNY, born Donato Fanelli, came into the music scene in 2014, and has several singles to his credit such as “Pianeti,” “Come Rocky,” “Fiero di Me,” “Tempesta,” and the album, "Believe." His musical research is devoted to experimenting with new genres and influences that navigate between Soul, Pop, R&B, and funk.
The DENNY Project consists of Giuseppe Degiosa on the piano, Giuseppe Capasso on guitar, Gianluca Contessa on drums, and Domenico Cataldi as sound deejay. The group performed at this year’s Casa Sanremo with their unreleased song, “La gente che,” which provided them a unique opportunity to nationally propose the art that this boy from the Bari land, along with his band, intend to spread.
The recently created Independent Music Movement, is proud to see Denny among its participating artists.
L'artista e cantante italiano DENNY, all'anagrafe Donato Fanelli, è entrato nella scena musicale nel 2014 e ha al suo attivo diversi singoli come "Pianeti", "Come Rocky", "Fiero di Me", "Tempesta" e l'album, "Credere." La sua ricerca musicale è dedicata alla sperimentazione di nuovi generi e influenze che navigano tra Soul, Pop, R&B e funk.
Il DENNY Project è composto da Giuseppe Degiosa al pianoforte, Giuseppe Capasso alla chitarra, Gianluca Contessa alla batteria e Domenico Cataldi come sound deejay. Il gruppo si è esibito a Casa Sanremo quest'anno con il loro brano inedito, "La gente che", che ha offerto loro un'occasione unica per proporre a livello nazionale l'arte che questo ragazzo barese, insieme alla sua band, intende diffondere.
L'Independent Music Movement, di recente creazione, è orgoglioso di vedere Denny tra i suoi artisti partecipanti.
How was your group formed?
Come è stato il vostro gruppo formato?
Our group formed quickly and naturally. I wanted to do live music, bring my songs live and do concerts. I met 4 wonderful, simple, and unique guys, and it all started.
Il nostro gruppo si è formato in maniera veloce e naturale. Volevo fare musica live, portare i miei brani dal vivo e fare concerti. Ho conosciuto 4 ragazzi meravigliosi, semplici e unici ed è partito tutto.
Where did you get the idea of the name of your group?

The name started from the desire not to lose the “DENNY” imprint, but to make it become a real project: DENNY PROJECT.
Il nome è partito dalla voglia di non perdere l’impronta DENNY ma farla diventare un vero e proprio progetto: DENNY PROJECT.
How is your music written?
Come viene scritta la vostra musica?
I write the lyrics, and the ideas in my head, following my favorite style of music. With the band, we insert all the musical influences of each of us. There, the magic happens.
Io scrivo i testi, e le idee che ho nella testa, seguendo il mio stile preferito di musica. Con la band, inseriamo tutte le influenze musicali di ognuno di noi... lì... avviene la magia.
How would you describe your music to a new listener?

True, real, no frills music that both the child and the elderly could sing.
Vera, reale, senza fronzoli, una musica che potrebbe cantarla sia il bambino che l’anziano.

Reality, with a pinch of madness... we are eternal dreamers ...

We performed throughout Puglia with our 2021 tour, on TV in Trm, and at home in Sanremo live box during the Sanremo 2022 festival.

Beer, rehearsals, sheets of paper, laughter, and a new song for sure...

What are you working on right now?
A cosa state lavorando adesso?
Now we are working on the summer song, in the meantime the song we played in Sanremo, "La gente che," which will be available in early March on all distribution platforms.
Adesso stiamo lavorando al brano estivo, nel frattempo che esca il brano che abbiamo suonato a Sanremo "La gente che", che sarà disponibile per i primi di marzo su tutte le piattaforme di distribuzione.
What do you do when you're not playing?
Cosa fate quando non suonate?
When we're not playing, we dedicate ourselves to our families and our lives outside of music. We try to experience all the emotions we have with our fans and with our audience.
Quando non suoniamo ci dedichiamo alle nostre famiglie e alle nostre vite fuori dalla musica. Cercando di vivere tutte le emozioni che abbiamo con i nostri fan e con il nostro pubblico.
