Giacomo Luridiana is an Italian singer-songwriter from the province of Milan. His mother introduced him to Springsteen at a young age during their car trips. He started writing poetry at 9 and was 15 when his uncle gave him his old classical guitar. It was from this moment that music and words started to mix. After years of indifference, when he was 17, Giacomo rediscovered Springsteen, and this made him choose to want to become a songwriter.
Giacomo’s latest single, “La Stagione,” was released on November 30, 2021.

Ha iniziato a scrivere poesie a 9 anni ea 15 anni quando suo zio gli ha regalato la sua vecchia chitarra classica. Fu da questo momento che musica e parole iniziarono a mescolarsi. What inspired you to become a musician?

As a child I felt the need to express myself artistically, my mom used to often listen to Bruce Springsteen, but I started writing poetry in elementary school. Then years later my uncle gave me his old guitar and I started writing songs; around the age of 17 I started listening to Springsteen again after years of putting it aside and the spark went off, reconnecting with those experiences of my childhood and the raw emotions that those songs gave me made me understand definitively that I wanted to make music.
Da bambino sentivo il bisogno di esprimermi artisticamente, mia mamma mi faceva ascoltare spesso Bruce Springsteen, ma ho iniziato scrivendo poesie alle elementari. Poi anni dopo mio zio mi ha regalato la sua vecchia chitarra e ho iniziato a scrivere canzoni; attorno ai 17 anni ho ripreso ad ascoltare Springsteen dopo anni che l’avevo accantonato ed è scattata la scintilla, riconnettermi con quelle esperienze della mia infanzia e le emozioni grezze che mi davano quelle canzoni mi hanno fatto capire definitivamente di voler fare musica.
How old were you when you started playing (music)?

Between the ages of 11 and 14 I wrote some melodies on the Hohner flute that is used in music lessons in middle school, but the first guitar was given to me by my uncle at 15 and it was then that I began to seriously apply myself in music.

How would you describe your music?

My songs are all born for voice and guitar, then take different directions depending on the project. I would say that the best way to describe them is songwriting music that takes its cue from folk, rock and in some cases from electronics, photographs of a point of view that is not necessarily the right one on a sensation or emotion.
Le mie canzoni nascono tutte per voce e chitarra, poi prendono direzioni diverse a seconda del progetto. Direi che il modo migliore per descriverle è musica cantautorale che prende spunto dal folk, dal rock e in alcuni casi dall’elettronica, fotografie di un punto di vista non necessariamente giusto su una sensazione o un’emozione.
Where have you performed? Do you have any upcoming shows?

I have played in various contexts in the past, on the street, in small circles, evenings in the library. Lately I have played less, but I plan to return in the next few weeks, I am moving to find acoustic nights and also with the label I will be out with next year we are looking for evenings in various contexts. Playing for real people in front of them is an indispensable sensation that I can't wait to try again.
Ho suonato in vari contesti in passato; in strada, in piccoli circoli, serate in biblioteca. Ultimamente ho suonato meno, ma conto di tornare nelle prossime settimane, mi sto muovendo per trovare serate in acustico e anche con l’etichetta con cui uscirò il prossimo anno stiamo cercando serate in vari contesti. Suonare per delle persone in carne ed ossa avendole di fronte è una sensazione irrinunciabile che non vedo l’ora di tornare a provare.
Where would your ideal concert be?

An average venue where you can move freely, but where the audience is never far enough from the stage that they can't see my face.

What is your favorite song to perform?

It is a song that I have not yet released, but which will be released in the next few months, “Orgasmo casto.” It is a slow piece that makes me very emotional, a flow of consciousness that makes me feel a strong connection with the audience.

Which famous musicians do you admire?

Bruce Springsteen is my idol, but I really admire Stromae; he has an energy of his own and seems to experience the music industry in a very personal and particular way. I wrote my thesis on Racine Carrée that the album had already been out for some time, now that he is back after 8 years, I am excited to see what he will release after Santé, he is an incredible artist.

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

Not to be ashamed. Often those who want to make music, especially at the beginning, have to deal with a little voice in their head that repeats that it is a useless, arrogant, selfish, superfluous, childish, pathetic ambition. The little voice may not go away, but you have to answer it, keep up with it, making music is an ancient, natural and beautiful instinct that must be respected and supported.
Di non vergognarmi. Spesso chi vuole fare musica, specialmente agli inizi, si deve confrontare con una vocina nella testa che ripete che è un’ambizione inutile, arrogante, egoista, superflua, infantile, patetica. If you could change something about the Music Industry, what would it be?

I believe that the ways that the public has today to discover new artists and that the lesser-known artists have to find their own audience have a very interesting potential, but still raw. In-depth research into algorithms, automatic analysis and recognition, and categorizations of music content with a view to creating channels that are easy to find and difficult to overload could lead to interesting developments to connect audiences and musicians by bypassing the more mainstream channels and their own. limitations.

What is a message you would like to give to your fans?

Nothing. I like to think that my songs are portraits of a moment, an emotion, a feeling, or a mood; amoral portraits in a sense, it is up to listeners to make a moral or ethical judgment or to find a message that they can truly feel their own, even if it was not my intention to include it. I just want to photograph things that cannot be physically represented as faithfully as possible.

In 2022 an album will be released with La Stanza Nascosta Records which I am very happy with, we have songs written and arranged for a couple of other projects that I can't wait to play live for many people. This year will be pretty full.
