Pieter Herweijer is a Music Producer & DJ from the Netherlands. Pieter’s music can be defined as mostly electronic, but he does not limit himself to genres. In 2018, he released his first single, “Lines” under his stage name, “Hersense” After that, Pieter released many more singles and albums, alternating between releasing them under his own name, and Hersense. The main difference between these releases is that “Hersense” productions are mostly minimal electronic, whereas “Pieter Herweijer” brings more of a commercial dance vibe.
Next to producing and releasing music, Pieter also plays music at parties. The dance vibe can be heard trough all his sets and differ in genres from Disco, Dance, Techno, to Deep House and Hits. Pieter brings a motto to the parties where he plays, which is: a party is a party. This defines his shows as always different and with a push of boundaries between genres.
Pushing forward in Pieter’s artistic career, he also started singing. He has different productions in which his voice can be heard, including, “This Digital World,” “Living on the Bright Side,” and “Make It... Work,” under Hersense.
Pieter’s latest single, “Paradise of Trouble,” was released on October 22, along with the official music video.
What inspired you to become a musician?
My love for music. I loved music since ever I remember. The thing about music that I love the most is the endless possibilities that it has.
How old were you when you started playing (music)?
When I was around 8 years old, I started at school with play backing and later singing in musicals. After that I mostly listened to music and played songs and made playlists. 4 years ago, I started producing music in Ableton Live.
How would you describe your music?
Different. I always try to make something new and unique.
Where have you performed? Do you have any upcoming shows?
I performed at very different occasions. I played as a DJ in restaurants, at people’s houses, at farms, horse ranges, festivals, shops, and many more. I’m currently very busy with producing and releasing music and have no shows planned, but that can change any minute.
Where would your ideal concert be?
My ideal place is a free place where people are open to any kind of music. That gives the freedom to play whatever you want and makes the greatest parties. Festival places but also clubs and other places.
What is your favorite song to perform?
I really like to play songs from Avicii like, “Wake Me Up,” “Addicted to You,” “Hey Brother,” “Levels,” and more. I also really like Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky,” “Around the World,” “One More Time,” and “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.” But if I have to choose one song, it is “Make Luv” from Room 5 and Oliver Cheatham.
Which famous musicians do you admire?
Daft Punk, Lost Frequencies, Avicii and one maybe not that famous (yet): Enamour.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
As an Artist, it’s not your job to live up to other people’s opinions, but it is to keep the train running.
If you could change something about the Music Industry, what would it be?
Nothing, I truly love it.
What is a message you would like to give to your fans?
Thanks for being here.
What’s next for you?
Next for me is building myself as an artist. I’m going to perform more in the coming year because the COVID period is hopefully coming to an end and I’m going to keep producing music. So mostly I’ll be switching between performing and producing. Next to that I’ll be busy with building my fanbase by trying to reach as much people as possible with my music and most of all I’m going to enjoy life and live in the moment.
