Domenico Pompilio è un musicista italiano del Gargano, trasferitosi a Roma nel 2005. A Roma insegna musica e flauto traverso. Domenico scrive canzoni dall'età di vent'anni e la sua ispirazione è arrivata da De Andrè, Cohen, Claudio Lolli, De Gregori, Nick Cave, Stefano Rosso, Rino Gaetano e Guccini.
A marzo 2018 è uscito il videoclip del brano “Con il vento in favore”, utilizzato nel booktrailer dell'omonimo romanzo di Roberta Capriglione. In settembre nasce il suo progetto “Parole tra le dita” con il chitarrista Simone Alfonsi.
Domenico si è esibito in vari club di Roma e provincia, sia con i suoi progetti, sia in microfoni aperti e concorsi live.
Il 28 febbraio 2020 è stato pubblicato il suo nuovo singolo, "Cassiopea". Durante la quarantena, Domenico si è esibito in streaming online all'Antivirus Festival e ha registrato il brano "Ad un metro di distanza". Questo è stato seguito da un video clip altrettanto fatto in casa. Ad aprile, Domenico è entrato a far parte della rosa dei quaranta artisti presenti nella compilation MEI, “Fatto in quarantena”.
A luglio è uscito “La felicità”, secondo singolo che anticipa l'uscita del suo album, “Linea di Confine”, registrato presso gli studi Ermes Records di Roma.
Domenico Pompilio is an Italian musician from Gargano, who moved to Rome in 2005. In Rome, he teaches music and transverse flute. Domenico has been writing songs since the age of twenty, and his inspiration came from are De Andrè, Cohen, Claudio Lolli, De Gregori, Nick Cave, Stefano Rosso, Rino Gaetano, and Guccini.
In March 2018, the video clip of the song, “Con il vento in favor,” which was used in booktrailer of the homonymous novel by Roberta Capriglione. That September, his project, “Parole tra le dita,” was created with the guitarist, Simone Alfonsi.
Domenico has performed in various clubs in Rome and its province, both with his projects, and in open mics and live contests.
On February 28, 2020 his new single, “Cassiopea,” was released. During the quarantine, Domenico performed streaming online in the Antivirus Festival and recorded, the song, “Ad un metro di distanza.” This was followed by an equally homemade video clip. In April, Domenico joined the shortlist of forty artists present in the MEI compilation, “Fatto in quarantena.”
“La felicità” was released in July, and is the second single that anticipates the release of his album, “Linea di Confine,” which was recorded at the Ermes Records studios in Rome.

What inspired you to become a musician?
Sono nato e cresciuto in un ambiente in cui la musica (lirica e sinfonica in particolare) è sempre stato il filo conduttore delle nostre giornate. Credo di aver semplicemente continuato a percorrere un sentiero tracciato da tempo.
I was born and raised in an environment where music (lyric and symphonic in particular) has always been the common thread of our days. I think I just kept going down a path I've been on for a long time.

How old were you when you started playing (music)?
Circa otto anni, seguendo un corso pomeridiano di flauto dolce. Da lì non ho più smesso fino al diploma in flauto traverso (scusate la rima).
About eight years old, taking an afternoon course of sweet flute. From there I didn't stop until I graduated in a cross flute (excuse the rhyme).

How would you describe your music?
Introspettiva, semplice e da interpretare. Oserei dire quasi come una bolla di sapone.
Introspective, simple and to be interpreted. I have say almost like a soap bubble.

Di recente mi sono esibito in un teatro di Roma, ma più in generale presso locali, pub, librerie, associazioni culturali, mostre. Allo stato attuale delle cose, e considerando la contingenza del momento, ho qualche data in sospeso.
Recently I performed in a theater in Rome, but more generally at clubs, pubs, bookshops, cultural associations, and exhibitions. As things stand, and considering the contingency of the moment, I have some outstanding dates.

Where is your ideal place to perform?
Teatro. Oppure tra libri e quadri. Meglio ancora su un palcoscenico tra libri e quadri.
Theater. Or between books and paintings. Better still on a stage between books and paintings.
Qual è la tua canzone preferita da esibire?
What is your favorite song to perform?
‘Io ti accarezzerò’, un canto d’amore che credo di aver scritto secoli or sono, quando vagavo in veste di trovatore.
"Io ti accarezzerò," a love song I believe I wrote centuries ago, when I wandered as a troubadour.

Qual è il miglior consiglio che ti è stato dato?
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
Senza dubbio ho ricevuto molti consigli, come tutti. Ma se dovessi pensare al miglior consiglio, questo viene da una persona a me molto vicina e lo ritrovo nei fatti piuttosto che nelle parole: sii te stesso, tu sei il tuo centro, tieni ben salda la presa e persegui i tuoi obiettivi.
No doubt I have received many tips, like everyone else. But if I were to think about the best advice, this comes from a person very close to me and I find him in deeds rather than words: be yourself, you are your center, keep your grip firmly and pursue your goals.
Se potessi cambiare qualcosa nel settore della musica, quale sarebbe?
If you could change something about the Music Industry, what would it be?
Nel settore musicale cambierei probabilmente molte cose, in particolare dal punto di vista dell’industria (che brutto termine!) discografica. Nella musica, intesa come arte dei suoni, darei più spazio ai silenzi.
In the music industry I would probably change a lot of things, especially from the point of view of the industry (what a bad term!) record. In music, understood as the art of sound, I would give more space to silences.
Qual è un messaggio che vorresti dare ai tuoi fan?
What is a message you would like to give to your fans?
Ragionate con la testa, ascoltate con la pancia, interpretate con il cuore. Il tutto continuando ad ascoltare le mie canzoni. Un momento, ho dei fan?

What’s next for you?
L’uscita del mio primo disco prevista per il 5 ottobre, completamente autoprodotto. Il titolo è ‘Linea di confine’, contenente 12 tracce. In ciascuna traccia una parte di me che, come amo ripetere, si mostra al mondo.
The release of my first album scheduled for October 5th. It was fully self-produced. The title is,"Linea di confine," containing 12 tracks. In each track, there is a part of me that, as I love to repeat, shows itself to the world.
