Francesco Giuliano (in arte Frank Julian) è un musicista italiano nato a Torino il 13 gennaio 1987, residente a Palermo dai primi anni '90. Scoprendo il suo amore per la musica in tenera età, Frank è cresciuto ascoltando vinili come quelli di Alan Parsons Project e Pink Floyd, così come tutta la musica del loro periodo. A 16 anni inizia a suonare nella sua prima band come batterista, e nel frattempo impara a suonare anche un altro strumento musicale, il basso elettrico.
Quando il progetto della band finì, Frank iniziò a lavorare per sé stesso, e negli anni studiò composizione e imparò a usare DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) come Cubase per dare "voce" alla sua musica.
Frank suona tre strumenti musicali; Suona prevalentemente batteria e basso, usa anche la chitarra come supporto e aiuto nella composizione. Negli anni ha anche imparato a suonare la tastiera a livello amatoriale. Non ha frequentato nessuna scuola di musica o conservatorio; le sue abilità musicali sono da autodidatta.
Attualmente Frank è speaker di una web radio milanese (LimiteSintonia radio), e il 15 dicembre 2019 ha inaugurato la sua web radio, "Studio Blue Radio", come informatico e speaker radiofonico.
L'ultimo singolo di Frank, "ReBorn", con MsFMaria, è stato pubblicato nell'ottobre 2020.
Francesco Giuliano (aka Frank Julian) is an Italian musician born in Turin on January 13, 1987, and has been a resident of Palermo since the early 90s. Discovering his love for music at an early age, Frank grew up listening to vinyls like those of the Alan Parsons Project and Pink Floyd, as well as all the music of their period. When he was 16, he started playing in his first band as a drummer, and in the meantime, also learned to play another musical instrument, the electric bass.
When the band project was over, Frank started working for himself, and over the years studied composition, and learned to use DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) as Cubase to give "voice" to his music.
Frank plays three musical instruments; predominantly playing drums and bass, he also uses the guitar for support and compositional help. Over the years, he has also learned to play the keyboard on an amateur level. He hasn’t attended any music school or conservatory; his musical skills are self-taught.
Currently, Frank is a speaker of a Milanese web radio (LimiteSintonia radio), and on December 15, 2019 he inaugurated his web radio, "Studio Blue Radio," as computer scientist and radio speaker.
Frank’s latest single, “ReBorn,” featuring MsFMaria, was released in October 2020.

What inspired you to become a musician?
L’ispirazione in realtà nasce in tenera età. Quando ero bambino mio padre mi faceva ascoltare vinili di gruppi come i Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons Project, Chicago e di molte altre band dei suoi tempi. Posso dirti che quello che ascoltavo sia da bambino che in adolescenza è stato l’imprinting musicale che ho portato poi nelle mie future composizioni.
Inspiration came to me at an early age. When I was a kid, my dad would make me listen to vinyl from bands like Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons Project, Chicago and many other bands of his time. I can tell you that what I was listening to both as a child and in adolescence was the musical imprinting that I then brought to my future compositions.

How old were you when you started playing (music)?
Per quel che mi ricordo ero molto piccolo ma posso dirti che all’età di 5 anni suonavo la batteria. La batteria per me è uno strumento che ho sempre avuto nel sangue, la definisco una dote naturale. All’età di 16 anni ho iniziato a studiare un altri strumenti: il basso elettrico, la chitarra elettrica e un pochino le tastiere.
As far as I can remember, I was very small, but I can tell you that at the age of 5 I was playing drums. The drums for me is a tool that I have always had in my blood, I call it a natural dowry. At the age of 16 I started studying another instrument: electric bass, electric guitar and a little bit of keyboards.
Come descriveresti la tua musica?
How would you describe your music?
Beh, come la descriverei… Personalmente parlando la categorizzo nel genere Progressive perché infondo racchiude un po’ di tutti i generi musicali e un po’ di tutti gli ascolti che ho assimilato in questi anni.
Well, how would I describe it... Personally speaking the categorization in the Progressive genre because infusing it contains a little bit of all the musical genres and a little bit of all the listening that I have assimilated in recent years.

Mi sono solamente esibito in dei piccoli locali Palermitani con delle mie vecchie band. Per un bel po’ di anni sono rimasto fermo dall’attività concertistica, ma giorno 24 ottobre e il 7 novembre 2020, ritornerò nuovamente live proponendo il mio disco ReBorn (dove la stessa ReBorn sarà cantata e interpretata dalla mia collega Maria Ferrante) e i primi due singoli 4UR0R4 e R174 (contenuti nel nuovo album in lavorazione G1RL5) interpretati dalla compagnia teatrale di Progetto Inediti.
I just performed in small Palermitani clubs with my old bands. For quite a few years I have been stuck from the concert activity, but on November 7th 2020, I will return live again proposing my album ReBorn (where ReBorn itself will be sung and performed by my colleague Maria Ferrante) and the first two singles 4UR0R4 and R174 (contained in the new album in the works G1RL5) interpreted by the theatrical company of Progetto Inediti.

Non ho ancora un luogo ideale, però posso dirti che mi piacerebbe molto suonare ai LeStudio di Morin Heights in Canada (ex-studio di registrazione dei Rush).

Il brano che io personalmente preferisco suonare (tra quelli miei) è 4UR0R4. Se dovessimo parlare di cover, ce ne sono molte. Tra le ultime studiate ti posso nominare Yyz, The Spirit of Radio, Tom Sawyer e The Main Monkey Business, brani dei Rush.

I miei idoli sono Geddy Lee, Neil Peart e i Rush in generale, Roland Grapow (ex-Helloween e attualmente chitarrista dei Masterplan), Helloween, Gamma Ray, Alan Parsons, Pink Floyd, Goblin, Cliff Burton (grande bassista dei Metallica) e Steve Harris (bassista Iron Maiden). Ho citato alcuni dei più grandi musicisti o gruppi che hanno segnato la mia vita musicale.

What is the best advice you’ve been given?
Il miglior consiglio mi è stato dato dal grande Roland Grapow durante un’intervista presso una mia conduzione radiofonica. “Se vuoi comporre qualcosa di nuovo, devi ascoltare qualcosa di vecchio e tanta musica.”
The best advice was given to me by the great Roland Grapow during an interview at my radio station. "If you want to compose something new, you have to listen to something old and lots of music."
Se potessi cambiare qualcosa nel settore della musica, quale sarebbe?
If you could change something about the Music Industry, what would it be?
Le cose che cambierei o eliminerei sono: i soldi che hanno distrutto l’arte e gli artisti e poi i talent show.
The things I would change or eliminate are: the money that destroyed art and artists and then talent shows.
Qual è un messaggio che vorresti dare ai tuoi fan?
What is a message you would like to give to your fans?
Il mio messaggio è il seguente… “Se credi in un progetto sii determinato per portarlo avanti, senza pensare al denaro alimentandolo solo con la tua passione.”
My message is as follows... "If you believe in a project be determined to carry it forward, without thinking about money by feeding it only with your passion."

What’s next for you?
Il mio prossimo progetto sarà il completamento del disco G1RL5 dove descriverò in musica delle donne (tra cui sono presenti amiche, ex-amiche e ragazze) che hanno avuto una certa importanza nella mia vita. Attualmente come ho detto prima è possibile ascoltare i primi due singoli 4UR0R4 e R174 presenti su tutti gli store digitali. Le copertine del disco G1RL5 saranno realizzare dalla grande illustratrice Eleonora (Roxanne) Calì. Da ogni ragazza verrà estratta la loro parte più bella ed inserita all’interno di un mosaico componendo un’unica e sola donna chiamata G1RL5.
My next project will be the completion of the G1RL5 disc where I will describe in music women (including friends, ex-girlfriends and girls) who have had some importance in my life. Currently as I said before it is possible to listen to the first two singles 4UR0R4 and R174 present on all digital stores. The covers of the album G1RL5 will be made by the great illustrator Eleonora (Roxanne) Calì. From each girl will be extracted their most beautiful part and inserted inside a mosaic composing a single and single woman called G1RL5.
