I fratelli Lucia (1996) e Gianluca (1998) Cortese, conosciuti come Fratelli Cortese, sono musicisti italiani di Caserta. Il duo ha mosso i primi passi nella musica in giovane età attraverso progetti scolastici come laboratori musicali, il coro parrocchiale e le esibizioni dal vivo. Successivamente, hanno iniziato a studiare canto, chitarra e pianoforte per avvicinarsi a quel mondo. Fratelli Cortese ha partecipato a diversi concorsi regionali e nazionali come il Concorso Nazionale "Vota la Voce" svoltosi a Caserta, classificandosi al primo posto sia nel 2016 con la loro interpretazione del brano "Vorrei incontrarti fra cent'anni", sia nel 2017, grazie a il loro primo brano inedito, "La ricerca dell'amore", che riceve gli elogi dei Maestri Enzo Campagnoli e Francesco Oliviero.
Nel 2018 i Fratelli Cortese hanno lanciato il loro secondo brano inedito, “Anche se (Non ce la fai)”, attraverso i propri canali social, che ha attirato l'attenzione di diversi produttori locali ed emittenti radiofoniche, oltre a dare loro accesso agli Amici di Maria. Scuola De Filippi. Nel 2019 hanno focalizzato la loro attenzione principalmente sull'attività concertistica prendendo parte a diversi eventi e partecipando al Jambo Summer Fest, evento presentato da The Jackal e organizzato da Radio Marte, dove hanno avuto modo di aprire il concerto di Anna Tatangelo.
Siblings Lucia (1996) and Gianluca (1998) Cortese, known as Fratelli Cortese, are Italian musicians from Caserta. The duo took their first steps in music at a young age through school projects such as music workshops, the parish choir, and the live performances. Later, they began to study singing, guitar, and piano to get closer to that world. Fratelli Cortese participated in various regional and national competitions such as the National competition "Vota la Voce" held in Caserta, ranking first both in 2016 with their interpretation of the song, "Vorrei incontrarti fra cent’anni," and in 2017, thanks to their first unpublished song, "La ricerca dell’amore,” receiving the praise of the Masters Enzo Campagnoli and Francesco Oliviero.
In 2018, Fratelli Cortese launched their second unpublished song, “Anche se (Non ce la fai),” through their social channels, which attracted the attention of several local producers and radio stations, as well as gave them access to the Amici di Maria De Filippi school. In 2019, they focused their attention mainly on concert activity by taking part in various events and participating in the Jambo Summer Fest, an event presented by The Jackal and organized by Radio Marte, where they had the opportunity to open the Anna Tatangelo concert.
Cosa ti ha ispirato a diventare un musicista?
What inspired you to become a musician?
La nostra ispirazione nasce dal desiderio di esprimerci e comunicare attraverso una forma diversa da quella convenzionale, la musica appunto, quello che sentiamo e proviamo, proprio come vedevamo fare ai grandi artisti.
Our inspiration comes from the desire to express ourselves and communicate through a different form from the conventional one, music precisely, what we hear and feel, just as we saw great artists do.
Quanti anni avevi quando hai iniziato a suonare?
How old were you when you started playing (music)?
Cantiamo da sempre, ma a differenza di quello che potremmo dire oggi, entrambi da piccoli eravamo molto timidi e questa nostra insicurezza ci portava a non esporci in situazioni e con persone che non conoscevamo, solo all’età di 11 e 9 anni, abbiamo iniziato attraverso i laboratori scolastici di musica, teatro e poi anche con il coro parrocchiale a prendere sicurezza e ad appassionarci sempre di più a quest’arte, tanto che un paio di anni dopo abbiamo deciso di iniziare a prendere lezioni di canto e chitarra e più tardi anche di pianoforte per avvicinarci e approfondire maggiormente gli studi musicali.
We have always been singing, but unlike what we could say today, we both were very shy when we were children and this insecurity of ours led us not to expose ourselves in situations and with people we did not know, only at the age of 11 and 9, we started through the school workshops of music, theater and then also with the parish choir to gain confidence and to become more and more passionate about this art, so much so that a couple of years later we decided to start taking singing and guitar lessons and later also of piano to get closer and deepen musical studies.
Come descriveresti la tua musica?
How would you describe your music?
La nostra musica è una commistione perfetta, o almeno prova ad esserlo, tra i nostri gusti musicali: sicuramente c’è un’identità pop di base, ma siccome ascoltiamo anche tanti altri generi quali rock, blues, soul ci piace sperimentare e fondere questi generi tra loro. Se dovessimo descriverla con una parole diremmo Pop-Rock, ma non ci piacciono molto le etichette perché alla fine la nostra musica è cantautorale quindi nasce da sentimenti, emozioni e situazioni diverse che poi cerchiamo di raccontare nelle nostre canzoni.
Our music is a perfect mix, or at least tries to be, between our musical tastes: surely there is a basic pop identity, but since we also listen to many other genres such as rock, blues, soul we like to experiment and blend these generate each other. If we had to describe it in one word we would say Pop-Rock, but we don't really like labels because in the end our music is songwriter so it comes from different feelings, emotions and situations that we then try to tell in our songs.
Dove ti sei esibito? Hai dei prossimi concerti?
Where have you performed? Do you have any upcoming shows?
Ci siamo esibiti in diversi luoghi quali locali, pub, feste di piazza, eventi organizzati in tutta la provincia di Caserta; ricordiamo con particolare entusiasmo il Jambo Summer Fest del 2019 nel quale abbiamo avuto l’opportunità di aprire il concerto di Anna Tatangelo presentato dai The Jackal.
Per quanto riguarda i prossimi concerti al momento è tutto fermo e anche il futuro dei live è molto incerto, ma ci auguriamo che rispettando tutte le norme che ci sono state impartite potremmo superare questo brutto momento tornare quanto prima a suonare anche dal vivo.
We performed in various places such as clubs, pubs, street parties, events organized throughout the province of Caserta; we remember with particular enthusiasm the 2019 Jambo Summer Fest in which we had the opportunity to open the Anna Tatangelo concert presented by The Jackal.
As for the upcoming concerts, at the moment everything is at a standstill and the future of live shows is also very uncertain, but we hope that by respecting all the rules that have been given to us we could overcome this bad moment and return to play live as soon as possible.
Dov'è il luogo del tuo concerto ideale?
Where is your ideal place to perform?
Tra i tanti sicuramente l’Arena di Verona per entrambi rappresenterebbe un sogno; tuttavia, ci affascinano anche tanto i teatri quanto i grandi spazi verdi.
Among the many, the Arena di Verona would certainly represent a dream for both; however, we are also fascinated by theaters as well as large green spaces.
Qual è la tua canzone preferita da esibire?
What is your favorite song to perform?
Questa è una di quelle cose che è cambiata negli anni così come siamo cambiati anche noi: un tempo era “Vivo per lei” di Bocelli e Giorgia, adesso invece la nostra preferita è “Ti vorrei sollevare” di Elisa e Giuliano Sangiorgi.
This is one of those things that has changed over the years as we have changed too: once it was “Vivo per lei” by Bocelli and Giorgia, now our favorite is “Ti vorrei sollevare” by Elisa and Giuliano Sangiorgi.
Quali musicisti famosi ammiri?
Which famous musicians do you admire?
Ce se ne sono parecchi. Per me (Lucia): i Coldplay sono la mia band preferita, ma mi piacciono molto anche Nel, Elisa, Giorgia, Alicia Keys. Per me (Gianluca): Nek, Negramaro, Jimi Hendrix, SRV, John Mayer e i Coldplay.
There are several. For me (Lucia): Coldplay are my favorite band, but I also really like Nel, Elisa, Giorgia, Alicia Keys. For me (Gianluca): Nek, Negramaro, Jimi Hendrix, SRV, John Mayer and Coldplay.
Qual è il miglior consiglio che ti è stato dato?
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
Di portare avanti questa passione che abbiamo con impegno, dedizione, umiltà e mettere amore in tutto quello che facciamo.
To carry on this passion we have with commitment, dedication, humility and to put love into everything we do.
Se potessi cambiare qualcosa nel settore della musica, quale sarebbe?
If you could change something about the Music Industry, what would it be?
Ci piacerebbe che le case discografiche tornassero a prestare attenzione alla qualità della musica e non demandino questo compito solo ed esclusivamente ai Talent Show che purtroppo, a nostro parere, sono interessati più al personaggio che all’artista.
We would like the record companies to return to pay attention to the quality of the music and not delegate this task only and exclusively to the Talent Show which unfortunately, in our opinion, are more interested in the character than the artist.
Qual è un messaggio che vorresti dare ai tuoi fan?
What is a message you would like to give to your fans?
Li ringraziamo infinitamente per il supporto che ci hanno dato finora e ci auguriamo che possano continuare ad apprezzare e rispecchiarsi nelle nostre canzoni, così da sostenerci ancora con il loro affetto che per noi è essenziale.
We thank them infinitely for the support they have given us so far and we hope that they can continue to appreciate and reflect themselves in our songs, so as to still support us with their affection which is essential for us.

What’s next for you?
Dopo due anni dal nostro ultimo lavoro inedito, il 3 Gennaio 2021 pubblicheremo un nuovo singolo dal titolo “Dietro quegli occhi azzurri”, a cui teniamo molto e che sarà l’apripista ad un album che speriamo di poter realizzare quanto prima.
After two years from our last unreleased work, on January 3rd 2021 we will release a new single entitled “Dietro quegli occhi azzurri”, which we care a lot about and which will be the forerunner to an album that we hope to be able to realize as soon as possible.
