Classe 1991, Nicola Elias Rigato è un pianista e compositore italiano di Rovigo. Nel 2012 Nicola ha conseguito il Diploma di Pianoforte al Conservatorio “F. Venezze ”di Rovigo, raggiungendo il massimo dei voti, lode, menzione d'onore. Ha proseguito gli studi presso lo stesso Conservatorio conseguendo la Laurea in Musica da Camera, con il M ° Massimiliano Mainolfi, raggiungendo il 110 con lode e menzione. Ha studiato attraverso numerose masterclass con il M ° Oxana Yablonskaya, partecipando anche a corsi tenuti da Maestri; Pier Narciso Masi, Roberto Prosseda, Orazio Maione, Pietro De Maria, Sergei Edelmann, Piero Rattalino, Wolgang Manz e Anna Kravtchenko. Nel 2019 Nicola ha conseguito il Diploma in Antico Ordine di Composizione a pieni voti presso il Conservatorio "Steffani" sotto la guida del M ° Gian-Luca Baldi, partecipando anche alle masterclass di composizione di Giovanni Sollima, Paolo Aralla, Claudio Ambrosini, Fabrizio De Rossi Re e Gianvincenzo Cresta.

Nel 2012 Nicola ha formato un Trio con Sofia Gelsomini (violino) e Marco Venturini (violoncello), vincitore del Primo Premio Assoluto della Città di Giussano e del Concorso Salieri Legnago, entrambi nel 2013. Il "Trio Hermes" si è esibito al il Teatro Sacile (2014) e il Teatro Alfieri di Castelnuovo di Garfagnana (2015).

Dal 2012 Nicola insegna pianoforte e composizione presso la Scuola Media Bonifacio, Pro Music School, Associazione Prima Corda. Insegna composizione per pianoforte e musica d'insieme a Modena presso l'associazione culturale QUATTRO, Casa di Musica Scienza Poesia, di cui è vicepresidente. Nel 2018 ha pubblicato "La Mano, La Mente, Il Cuore" (Fabbrica dei Segni editore), metodo di specializzazione pianistica e prima applicazione strumentale del Metodo QUATTRO di Laura Polato, già adottato da diverse scuole primarie italiane. Nel 2019 ha pubblicato "Sul Palco - Guida pratica per musicisti e pianisti" (Fabbrica dei Segni editore).

Nicola fa anche parte del gruppo Psycodrummers dal 2014. Il gruppo è composto da percussionisti che si esibiscono nelle maggiori piazze italiane tra musica e riciclo, vincitore anche nel 2016 del concorso nazionale di artisti di strada "La Girandola", e recentemente impegnato in Oronero Tour gi Giorgia.

L'ultimo singolo di Nicola, "Crypt", è stato pubblicato nel novembre 2020.

Born in 1991, Nicola Elias Rigato is an Italian pianist and composer from Rovigo. In 2012, Nicola obtained the Piano Diploma at the “F. Venezze” of Rovigo, reaching full marks, praise, honorable mention. He continued his studies at the same Conservatory obtaining a Degree in Chamber Music, with Maestro Massimiliano Mainolfi, reaching 110 with honors and mention. He studied through numerous masterclasses with Maestro Oxana Yablonskaya, also participating in classes held by Masters; Pier Narciso Masi, Roberto Prosseda, Orazio Maione, Pietro De Maria, Sergei Edelmann, Piero Rattalino, Wolgang Manz, and Anna Kravtchenko. In 2019, Nicola obtained the Diploma in Old Composition Order with full marks at the "Steffani" Conservatory under the guidance of Maestro Gian-Luca Baldi, also participating in the composition masterclasses of Giovanni Sollima, Paolo Aralla, Claudio Ambrosini, Fabrizio De Rossi Re, and Gianvincenzo Cresta.

In 2012, Nicola formed a Trio with Sofia Gelsomini (violin) and Marco Venturini (cello), which was the winner of the Primo Premio Assoluto in the City of Giussano and Salieri Legnago Competition, both in 2013. The "Trio Hermes" performed at the Sacile Theater (2014) and at the Alfieri Theater in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana (2015).

Since 2012, Nicola has been teaching piano and composition at the Bonifacio Middle School, Pro Music School, Prima Corda Association. He teaches piano composition and ensemble music in Modena at the FOUR cultural association, Casa di Musica Scienza Poesia, of which he is vice president. In 2018, he published "La Mano, La Mente, Il Cuore" (Fabbrica dei Segni publisher), a method of piano specialization and first instrumental application of the FOUR Method by Laura Polato, already adopted by several Italian primary schools. In 2019, he published "Sul Palco - practical guide for musicians and pianists" (Fabbrica dei Segni publisher).

Nicola has also been part of the group Psycodrummers since 2014. The group consists of percussionists who perform in the major Italian squares connecting music and recycling, also winner in 2016 of the national competition of street artists "La Girandola", and recently engaged in Giorgia's Oronero Tour.

Cosa ti ha ispirato a diventare un musicista?

What inspired you to become a musician?

Più che altro direi che ho scelto di diventare musicista giorno dopo giorno, è una scelta che ribadisco tutte le volte che mi accorgo che la musica è una chiave d'accesso al mondo interiore. Grazie ad essa mi studio, mi conosco, mi governo, posso sintonizzarmi su idee che preesistono da qualche parte in un luogo invisibile e tentare di tradurle per gli altri.

More than anything else I would say that I have chosen to become a musician day after day, it is a choice that I repeat every time I realize that music is a key to access the inner world. Thanks to it, I study, I know myself, I govern myself, I can tune into ideas that pre-exist somewhere in an invisible place and try to translate them for others.

Quanti anni avevi quando hai iniziato a suonare?

How old were you when you started playing (music)?

Ho iniziato a studiare pianoforte a 8 anni, per gioco. Poi studiavo, mi dicevano bravo, quindi continuavo, ma era ancora una cosa esteriore. Poi verso i 16 anni ho sentito come uno spillo nell'anima. Un dolore. Che era anche un piacere mai provato. Ho scoperto che la musica era qualcosa di molto più grande di ciò che stavo studiando. Da lì ho iniziato davvero a suonare.

I started studying piano at the age of 8, for fun. Then I studied, they told me good, so I continued, but it was still an external thing. Then at the age of 16 I felt like a pin in my soul. A pain. Which was also a pleasure never experienced. I found that music was something much bigger than what I was studying. From there I really started playing.

Come descriveresti la tua musica?

How would you describe your music?

In larga parte è un ringraziamento ai grandi maestri del passato che ho studiato ed amato. Un congedo dal pensiero musicale che ci ha preceduto, mantenendone però vivi gli insegnamenti. Dentro c'è classica, jazz, metal, pop, minimalismo, tanti linguaggi diversi stanno via via trovando una sintesi che, mi auguro, continuerà sempre a cambiare, crescere, maturare. Ho iniziato a scrivere davvero per gioco. Poi il gioco si è fatto serio quando ho scoperto che scrivere musica è un atto magico, oserei dire terapeutico. Per me, forse anche per l'altro.

In large part it is a thank you to the great masters of the past that I studied and loved. A farewell from the musical thought that preceded us, while keeping its teachings alive. Inside there is classical, jazz, metal, pop, minimalism, many different languages ​​are gradually finding a synthesis that, I hope, will always continue to change, grow, mature. I really started writing for fun. Then the game got serious when I discovered that writing music is a magical act, I dare say therapeutic. For me, perhaps also for the other.

In diverse sale e palchi, in Italia ed Europa. Ho avuto la fortuna di suonare in due tournèe con Giorgia insieme agli Psycodrummers, una esperienza indelebile. I prossimi concerti? Sto cercando persone capaci di inventare l'impossibile insieme a me per trovare soluzioni al silenzio obbligato (o al suono virtuale) che stiamo vivendo. Ben accetti coraggiosi sognatori.

In various rooms and stages, in Italy and Europe. I was lucky enough to play on two tours with Giorgia together with the Psycodrummers, an indelible experience. The next concerts? Dov'è il luogo del tuo concerto ideale?

Where is your ideal place to perform?

Bella questa domanda. Mi piacerebbe respirare l'aria che si respirava nei salotti degli intellettuali del 1800, in cui Liszt, Brahms, Wagner, Schumann, si incontravano e condividevano musica divina. Orchestrale, da camera, non importa, bastava un pianoforte e si scambiavano l'un l'altro mondi. Mi manca molto, mi piacerebbe tornare a quei momenti di musica vivere. E certamente, far rivivere momenti simili nel nostro oggi.

Nice this question. I would like to breathe the air one breathed in the salons of the intellectuals of the 1800s, where Liszt, Brahms, Wagner, Schumann met and shared divine music. Ci sono alcuni brani miei che non ho mai sentito eseguiti, alcuni per orchestra, altri per coro... Li vorrei tanto sentire fuori dalla mia testa. Ma se intendiamo brani che possa suonare io, credo che su tutti preferirei suonare l'Adagietto per Pianoforte e Violoncello.

There are some pieces of mine that I have never heard performed, some for orchestra, others for choir ... I would love to hear them out of my head. But if we mean pieces that I can play, I think that above all I would prefer to play the Adagietto for Piano and Cello.

Jacob Collier, un alieno. Tigran Hamasyan, un altro alieno. Gli Snarky Puppy... Vado a fasi di innamoramento comunque. Come si evince, ora non sto ascoltando il genere che scrivo.

Rilassati, osservati, sii felice. Traducendo, "uomo conosci te stesso".

Se potessi cambiare qualcosa nel settore della musica, quale sarebbe?

If you could change something about the Music Industry, what would it be?

Il ragazzo teppista che è annidato nel mio passato darebbe fuoco a diversi personaggi del mondo dello spettacolo, o meglio della spettacolarizzazione della musica, che l'ha poco a poco condotta verso canoni estetici di dubbio valore. L'uomo saggio che è in me mi ricorda che convivere è una missione stupenda, anche con alcune cose marce del mondo dello show business e dello star system. Mi piacerebbe aiutare a creare cultura partendo dal basso, raccontando agli ascoltatori perché il bello è bello, cosa c'è dietro alla musica, e da dove viene il linguaggio musicale. Più di ogni altra cosa mi piacerebbe nascessero reti nuove, autonome, di scambio tra artisti.

Ascoltare è la vera arte. Non comporre nè suonare. Raccogliti ad ascoltare, profondamente, sentendo cosa c'è dietro le note, guardandoti dentro. Ed esplora, vai oltre i confini della musica che piace ai tuoi amici, vedi che altro c'è. Ascolta, ascolta, ascolta.

Listening is the true art. Do not compose or play. Collect yourself to listen, deeply, feeling what's behind the notes, looking inside yourself. And explore, go beyond the boundaries of the music your friends like, see what else there is. Listen, listen, listen.
