Roberto Chiarappa è un musicista e paroliere pop-rock italiano.

All'inizio del suo percorso musicale nel 2001, Roberto è stato tra i 60 finalisti al concorso di canto dell'Accademia Nazionale di Sanremo. Nel 2002 ha pubblicato la sua prima canzone autobiografica, "Cambiare Sintonia", scritta dopo aver perso il padre. Da quel momento ha iniziato a scrivere pezzi inediti, che ad oggi sono arrivati a più di 40.

Tra i suoi progetti in corso, Roberto sta pubblicando l'EP, “Non sono un Pazzo”, il 20 gennaio. Il disco contiene tre brani e sarà disponibile su tutte le piattaforme digitali. Il progetto è stato creato con la sua band, "Anaconda". Nel 2019 Roberto ha pubblicato il singolo "Santa", e si è aggiudicato l'inserimento nella compilation album di Rock Targato Italia 2019, per essere stato inserito tra i primi 8 artisti emergenti a livello nazionale.

Nel 2018 Roberto scrive, “Ti parlerò di me”, per sottolineare la voglia e la necessità di correggersi lungo il suo percorso come scrive nel brano: "Non sono mai stato perfetto sempre al passo con il difetto..."

Roberto Chiarappa is an Italian pop-rock musician and lyricist.

Beginning his musical journey in 2001, Roberto was among the 60 finalists in the National Academy of Sanremo singing competition. In 2002, he released his first autobiographical song, “Cambiare Sintonia,” written after losing his father. From that moment, he began writing unpublished pieces, which today, has accumulated to more than 40.

Among his current projects, Roberto is releasing the EP, “Non sono un Pazzo,” on January 20. The disk contains three songs and will be available on all digital platforms. The project was created with his band, “Anaconda.” In 2019, Roberto released the single "Santa,” and was awarded the inclusion in the compilation album of Rock Targato Italia 2019, for being placed among the top 8 of nationally emerging artists.

In 2018 Roberto wrote, “Ti parlerò di me,” to underline the desire and need to correct himself along his path as he writes in the passage, "I have never been perfect always in step with the defect..."

Cosa ti ha ispirato a diventare un musicista?

What inspired you to become a musician?

Diventare un musicista o provare ad esserlo è stato un qualcosa che mi porto dietro davvero da molto piccolo. Scrivere un testo, un mio pensiero e metterli giù in musica è davvero fantastico. Ti dà la possibilità di esprimerti con la gente in maniera genuina.

Becoming a musician or trying to be a musician was something I carry with me really as a very young man. Writing lyrics, my thoughts, and putting them down in music is really great. It gives you a chance to express yourself to people in a genuine way.

Quanti anni avevi quando hai iniziato a suonare?

How old were you when you started playing (music)?

Ho iniziato a suonare quando avevo 11 anni, spinto da un regalo inaspettato, appunto una chitarra. Mi si è aperto un mondo. Scrivevo poesie su spezzoni di carta e qualunque cosa mi capitava tra le mani prima. Avere uno strumento mi ha completato. Era ed è la mia priorità fare musica.

I started playing when I was 11 years old, driven by an unexpected gift, just a guitar. A world has opened up to me. I used to write poetry on pieces of paper and whatever happened to me in my hands before. Having a tool has completed me. It was and is my priority to make music.

Come descriveresti la tua musica?

How would you describe your music?

La mia musica non sempre è autobiografica, spesso canto con gli occhi di gente che affronta amore, odio, rabbia. Il sociale è un tema che mi piace spesso affrontare. La cosa fondamentale per me è quella di non affrontare mai temi banali.

My music is not always autobiographical, I often sing with the eyes of people facing love, hate, anger. Social dumping is a subject I often like to address. The key thing for me is never to address trivial issues.

Dove ti sei esibito? Hai dei prossimi concerti?

Where have you performed? Do you have any upcoming shows?

Ho fatto tanti concerti nella mia umile esperienza musicale e qualche soddisfazione è anche arrivata. Nel 2019 sono arrivato tra i primi 8 finalisti del concorso nazionale Rock targato Italia e con la mia Band sono finalista del premio MIA MARTINI, edizione attuale, in attesa che si torni a fare musica, cosa non possibile ora per i motivi che tutti sappiamo.

I have done so many concerts in my humble musical experience and some satisfaction has also arrived. In 2019 I arrived among the top 8 finalists of the national Rock competition branded Italy and with my Band I am a finalist of the MIA MARTINI award, current edition, waiting for us to return to making music, which is not possible now for the reasons we all know.

Qual è la tua canzone preferita da esibire?

What is your favorite song to perform?

Principalmente nei miei live faccio solo inediti e mi sento padre di ognuna delle canzoni che ho scritto. CAMBIARE SINTONIA, per esempio, è un brano che ho scritto per mio padre subito dopo averlo perso e a distanza di anni tutte le volte che arriva il suo momento, sento l'emozione della prima volta.

Mainly in my live shows I only do unreleased and I feel like the father of each of the songs I wrote. CAMBIARE SINTONIA for example, is a song that I wrote for my father immediately after losing him and years later all the times that comes his moment, I feel the emotion of the first time.

Quali musicisti famosi ammiri?

Which famous musicians do you admire?

Son cresciuto con il Grignani dei primi tempi, Sarcina, Le Vibrazioni, I Negramaro, Vasco.

Ascolto musica a 360 gradi ma preferisco gli artisti italiani come riferimento.

Ultimamente ho iniziato ad avere moltissima ammirazione per Ultimo e Fabrizio Moro.

I grew up with Grignani of the early days, Sarcina, Le Vibrazioni, I Negramaro, Vasco.

I listen to 360 degree music but I prefer Italian artists as a reference.

Lately I have started to have a lot of admiration for Ultimo and Fabrizio Moro.

Qual è il miglior consiglio che ti è stato dato?

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

Quello di non snaturarmi mai

That of never distorting myself.

Se potessi cambiare qualcosa nel settore della musica, quale sarebbe?

If you could change something about the Music Industry, what would it be?

A parte qualche piccola eccezione, vedo l'industria musicale muoversi priva di emozioni. Sembra non ci sia più spazio per l'artista cantautore di un tempo. Ormai vedo artisti snaturarsi dopo uno, due album perché richiesto dall'industria musicale. Purtroppo, sono diminuite anche le possibilità di farsi conoscere ed ascoltare. Sarebbe bello veder organizzare più eventi per i musicisti emergenti, ma chiedo troppo forse…

Apart from a few small exceptions, I see the music industry moving without emotion. There seems to be no more room for the singer-songwriter artist of the time. Now I see artists distorting themselves after one, two albums because it is required by the music industry. Unfortunately, the chances of making themselves known and listening have also decreased. It would be nice to see more events organized for up-and-coming musicians, but I ask too much maybe…

Qual è un messaggio che vorresti dare ai tuoi fan?

What is a message you would like to give to your fans?

Intanto posso solo ringraziare chi viene a vedere i miei live e mi segue sui vari social! Essere seguiti da una nicchia di persone è qualcosa di incredibile, aumenta la tua autostima e ti fa capire che probabilmente quello che scrivi e canti, magari per qualcuno diventa un messaggio personale e l'obbiettivo finale è proprio quello, arrivare alla gente!

Meanwhile I can only thank those who come to see my live shows and follow me on various social media! Being followed by a niche of people is something incredible, it increases your self-esteem and makes you understand that probably what you write and sing, maybe for someone becomes a personal message and the ultimate goal is just that, get to people!
