Born in 1991, Mattia Bocchi, an Italian musician from Parma, had certain point in his life where his passion for music exploded. In 2011, he decided to invest in himself and moved to Milan, where he attended the SAE institute college. In 2014, he moved to London, learning the English language and working as a waiter and bartender. During this time, he released, "Musi for Toilet," an electronic Indie pop EP, with rock and hip-hop nuances, made with the “bare minimum,” a pc, sound card, controller, and lots of heart.
In 2017, Mattia published "Una storia vera", an entirely self-produced track accompanied by his first official video. In June 2019, he released another self-produced EP, “Poteca seccedere a tutti,” taking on an Italian Pop and Lo-fi sounds. In 2020 he also self-produced the singles, "Dove il cielo explode," and "Gino Paoli."
Mattia began his collaboration with record label, Visory Indie in 2021. Through them, and distribution by Believe Digital, he released the singles "Resta" and "Giri di Rum." His most recent single, “Un minute di rumore,” was released in January 2022. It was written and composed by Bocchi and produced by Roman Meister with the artistic supervision of Sala. The single mixes electronics with vintage rock sounds, with a hint of rap music.

Nel 2017 Mattia pubblica "Una storia vera", brano interamente autoprodotto accompagnato dal suo primo video ufficiale. Nel giugno 2019 ha pubblicato un altro EP autoprodotto, “Poteca seccedere a tutti”, assumendo sonorità pop e lo-fi italiane. Nel 2020 ha anche autoprodotto i singoli "Dove il cielo esplode" e "Gino Paoli".
Mattia ha iniziato la sua collaborazione con l'etichetta discografica Visory Indie nel 2021. Attraverso di loro, e la distribuzione da parte di Believe Digital, ha pubblicato i singoli "Resta" e "Giri di Rum". Il suo singolo più recente, "Un minute di rumore", è stato pubblicato a gennaio 2022. È stato scritto e composto da Bocchi e prodotto da Roman Meister con la supervisione artistica di Sala. Il singolo mescola l'elettronica con sonorità rock vintage, con un pizzico di musica rap.
What inspired you to become a musician?

My first source of inspiration was “Eminem.” When 8mile came out I was in middle school, I think I've seen it at least a hundred times. Inside there was that desire for revenge that set everything on fire. Later I approached other genres and artists who inspired me as well, but that was certainly the moment when I realized that music would have a fundamental role in my life.
La mia prima fonte di ispirazione è stata “Eminem”. Quando è uscito 8mile ero alle medie, penso di averlo visto almeno un centinaio di volte. C’era dentro quella voglia di rivalsa che incendiava tutto. Dopo mi sono avvicinato ad altri generi ed artisti che mi hanno altrettanto ispirato, ma quello è sicuramente stato il momento in cui ho capito che la musica avrebbe avuto un ruolo fondamentale nella mia vita.
How old were you when you started playing (music)?
Quanti anni avevi quando hai iniziato a suonare?
I started playing guitar in eighth grade in school during music hours.
Then I never stopped and continued self-taught. The guitar is the instrument I am most attached to because I use it to write songs. In my opinion, when a piece has a good voice and guitar, then it means that it works.
Ho iniziato a suonare la chitarra in terza media a scuola durante le ore di musica.
Poi ho non ho più smesso e ho continuato da autodidatta. La chitarra è lo strumento a cui sono più legato perché la uso per scrivere le canzoni. Secondo me quando un pezzo gira bene voce e chitarra, allora vuole dire che funziona.
How would you describe your music?

Basically, I make pop music.
I like to write, for me it is an outlet to express everything I have inside.
In terms of sound, I try to give the right space to the different genres that have influenced me. The goal is always to create something personal.
I have been playing for several years with my cousin, my guitarist Michele Bocchi. He is not just a performer; he is an integral part of my project and my music.

Mi piace scrivere, per me è una valvola di sfogo per esprimere tutto quello che ho dentro.
A livello di sonorità cerco di dare il giusto spazio ai diversi generi che mi hanno influenzato. L’obiettivo è sempre quello creare qualcosa di personale.
Suono da diversi anni insieme a mio cugino, non che il mio chitarrista Michele Bocchi. Non è solo un esecutore, è parte integrante del mio progetto e della mia musica.
Where have you performed? Do you have any upcoming shows?

Mainly I have always played in clubs in my city. In particular, “Hub” and “Altro” have hosted me several times.
I also fondly remember “Le Trottoir” in Milan, which was the first venue to give me the opportunity to play when I was attending the SAE Institute.
Just before the pandemic broke out, I played a really big and exciting stage at the “Parma music park”. It was a good time, I had just released my second Ep “Poteva succedere a tutti,” and things were starting to move, then unfortunately everything stopped.
Today after two years I have a new project, a label, new songs and new things to say. On March 26, I played live at the “Petitot” in Parma for the first time. It is a historic venue in the center, frequented by talented musicians!
Principalmente ho sempre suonato nei locali della mia città. In particolare, “Hub” e “Altro” mi hanno ospitato diverse volte.
Ricordo con molto affetto anche “Le Trottoir” di Milano, che è stato il primo locale a darmi la possibilità di suonare quando frequentavo il SAE Institute.
Poco prima che scoppiasse la pandemia ho suonato al “Parma music park” un palco veramente grande ed emozionante. Era un bel periodo, avevo appena pubblicato il mio secondo Ep “Poteva succedere a tutti” e le cose stavano cominciando a muoversi, poi purtroppo si è fermato tutto.
Oggi dopo due anni ho un nuovo progetto, un’etichetta, nuove canzoni e nuove cose da dire. Sabato 26 marzo ho suonato live al “Petitot” di Parma per la prima volta. È un locale storico in pieno centro, frequentato da bravissimi musicisti!
Where would your ideal concert be?

I try to bring whoever comes to hear me into the story that binds all the songs together. The intimate places where you drink, and the public is very close, are the ones I prefer.
Io cerco di portare chi mi viene a sentire dentro alla storia che lega insieme tutte le canzoni. I locali intimi dove si beve, e il pubblico è molto vicino, sono quelli che preferisco.
What is your favorite song to perform?

Definitely "Sotto Cassa". It is part of my first Ep "Music for toilet".
It was born after a very busy evening spent at Mu, a club in Parma, with two of my best friends. One of the two aka "Mr Calloway" reppa in the third verse. Every time I play it I call him on stage and for me it's a magical moment, it's like going back.

È nata dopo una serata parecchio carica passata al Mu, un locale di Parma, con due dei miei migliori amici. Uno dei due in arte “Mr Calloway” reppa nella terza strofa. Ogni volta che la suono lo chiamo sul palco e per me è un momento magico è come tornare indietro.

If you could change something about the Music Industry, what would it be?
Se potessi cambiare qualcosa nel settore della musica, quale sarebbe?
I'm not really critical of the industry. Apart from the bad time we are living, today there are many new means to make oneself known; Everything is in constant transformation, there is a lot of music and to emerge you need to know how to communicate your project well, keep up with it and "really" have something more.
In realtà non sono molto critico verso il settore. A parte il pessimo momento che stiamo vivendo, oggi ci sono tanti nuovi mezzi per farsi conoscere; È tutto in continua trasformazione, c’ è tanta musica e per emergere bisogna sapere comunicare bene il proprio progetto, stare al passo ed avere “veramente” qualcosa in più.

At the moment I am collaborating with the Visory Indie label, with which I have already released three songs: “Resta,” “Giri di rum,” and Un minuto di rumore.”. This relationship began in the middle of the pandemic when I came into contact with Gianluca Sala, whom I take this opportunity to thank. It was a dark time and working on this project kept me on fire. Before I always did everything by myself, with Visory I had the opportunity to collaborate with other people interested in my work, to experiment with new sounds and raise the quality level of the productions. It was a path of personal growth. Now I would like to collect the singles, close the EP and play live as much as possible.
Al momento sto collaborando con l’etichetta Visory Indie, con cui ho già pubblicato tre brani: “Resta,” “Giri di rum” e “Un minuto di rumore.” Questo rapporto è iniziato in piena pandemia quando sono entrato in contatto con Gianluca Sala, che colgo l’occasione per ringraziare. Era un periodo buio e lavorare a questo progetto mi ha tenuto acceso. Prima ho sempre fatto tutto da solo, con Visory ho avuto la possibilità di collaborare con altre persone interessate al mio lavoro, di sperimentare nuove sonorità e alzare il livello qualitativo delle produzioni. È stato un percorso di crescita personale. Adesso vorrei raccogliere i singoli, chiudere l’Ep e suonare live il più possibile.
