Nati dalla strana idea di suonare insieme sui banchi del liceo, i Please Diana si formano ad Assisi nel 2011. Ispirati principalmente dai nuovi esponenti del rock alternativo (Biffy Clyro su tutti) e uniti dalla comune passione per le sonorità di gruppi come i Foo Fighters e Paramore, il gruppo ha pubblicato il loro album di debutto, “L'Inevitabile”, nel 2013. Al disco seguono due anni di attività concertistica, condividendo il palco con artisti di spicco della scena italiana.
A febbraio 2015 è uscito il singolo “Quiete Apparente”, che anticipa il secondo album di Please Diana, “Esodo”, registrato da Anubi Produzioni (Andrea Marmorini, Jacopo Gigliotti dei Fast Animals And Slow Kids). Pubblicato da Phonarchia Dischi/Audioglobe esattamente un anno dopo, l'album ha permesso al gruppo di collocarsi tra le migliori realtà della musica emergente umbra.
Nei primi mesi del 2017, Please Diana ha rilevato il roster booking dell'etichetta perugina, JAP Records. Con loro il gruppo si è legato totalmente per produrre il loro nuovo album, in seguito al lavoro svolto insieme a Federico Brizi dello studio JAP-Perù. Il gruppo ha pubblicato il suo terzo LP, "Pollyanna", nel gennaio 2020, che è un concept album sull'incomunicabilità. Il mese successivo ha visto la prima data del tour di Pollyanna allo Zut! Di Foligno registra, uno spettacolo bellissimo sold out, ma l'inizio della pandemia costringerà poi la band a più di un anno di silenzio.
Il silenzio di Please Diana è stato interrotto il 17 settembre, con l'uscita del loro ultimo singolo, "Aria, pt. 8".
Stemming from the strange idea of playing together on high school benches, Please Diana was formed in Assisi in 2011. Inspired mainly by the new exponents of alternative rock (Biffy Clyro above all) and united by the common passion for the sounds of bands like Foo Fighters and Paramore, the group released their debut album, “L'Inevitabile,” in 2013. The disc is followed by two years of concert activity, sharing the stage with prominent artists of the Italian scene.
In February 2015, the single “Quiete Apparente” was released, anticipating Please Diana’s second album, “Esodo,” recorded by Anubi Produzioni (Andrea Marmorini, Jacopo Gigliotti of Fast Animals And Slow Kids). Released by Phonarchia Dischi / Audioglobe exactly one year later, the album allowed the group to place themselves among the best realities of emerging Umbrian music.
In the first months of 2017, Please Diana took over the roster booking of the Perugian label, JAP Records. With them, the group became totally linked to produce their new album, following the work performed jointly with Federico Brizi of the JAP-Peru studio. The group released their third LP, “Pollyanna,” in January 2020, which is a concept album about incommunicability. The following month saw the first date of Pollyanna's tour at the Zut! Di Foligno records, a beautiful sold-out show, but the onset of the pandemic will then force the band into more than a year of silence.
Please Diana’s silence was interrupted on September 17, with the release of their latest single, "Aria, pt. 8."

How was your group formed?
Il gruppo è nato nel lontano 2011, quando quasi tutti frequentavamo ancora lo stesso liceo. Ci siamo conosciuti, abbiamo da subito trovato una grande sintonia musicale e venuto quindi poi naturale decidere di andare in sala prove per iniziare a suonare insieme. [Federico]
The group was born in 2011, when almost all of us were still attending the same high school. We met, we immediately found a great musical harmony and then it was natural to decide to go to the rehearsal room to start playing together. [Federico]
Dove avete avuto l'idea del nome del vostro gruppo?
Where did you get the idea of the name of your group?
Direi in maniera abbastanza casuale. Ci siamo infatti presi la licenza poetica di modificare una frase della canzone “Ana’s song” dei Silverchair, che inizia dicendo “Please, die Ana” e che poi è spontaneamente diventata Please Diana. [Federico]
I would say quite casually. In fact, we took the poetic license to modify a phrase from Silverchair's song “Ana's song”, which begins by saying “Please, die Ana” and then spontaneously became Please Diana. [Federico]
Come viene scritta la vostra musica?
How is your music written?
Nel corso degli anni abbiamo sperimentato processi creativi diversi. Ad esempio, l’album “Esodo” è nato interamente in sala prove, partendo da brevi spunti, ad esempio, di chitarra che poi venivano sviluppati e rifiniti tutti insieme, compreso il testo che man mano prendeva forma.
“Pollyanna” invece è stato interamente scritto e composto da Marco, per quanto riguarda la parte musicale. I brani poi ovviamente sono stati solo rifiniti insieme una volta che venivano suonati in sala prove, così come i testi sono stati scritti da Gloria anche quelli partendo dalla musica. [Federico]
Over the years we have experimented with different creative processes. For example, the album "Esodo" was born entirely in the rehearsal room, starting from short ideas such as guitar which were then developed and refined all together, including the text that gradually took shape.
"Pollyanna" instead was entirely written and composed by Marco, as regards the musical part. The songs then obviously were only finished together once they were played in the rehearsal room, just as the lyrics were written by Gloria also those starting from the music. [Federico]

How would you describe your music to a new listener?
“Se quello che cerchi è una musica leggera, ma al tempo stesso intensa e carica di emozioni, con una certa propensione a spaziare tra varie correnti e che ti trasporti in un viaggio tra i ricordi di una vita, allora questa è la band che fa per te”. [Marco]
“If what you are looking for is light music, but at the same time intense and full of emotions, with a certain propensity to wander between various currents and that takes you on a journey through the memories of a lifetime, then this is the band that makes for you.” [Marco]
Quale immagine pensate che trasmetta la vostra musica?
What image do you think your music conveys?
Quando scrivo ed ascolto la musica dei Please Diana mi immagino sempre una persona seduta sull’erba in montagna o sul lungomare a guardare la nebbia che si estende sulla pianura o il sole che tramonta dietro il mare. Sono le immagini che mi comunicano quella sensazione di tepore come quando ti copri per ripararti dal freddo, ma resta comunque il brivido lungo la schiena a farti compagnia. [Marco]
When I write and listen to Please Diana's music, I always imagine a person sitting on the grass in the mountains or on the promenade watching the mist spread over the plains or the sun setting behind the sea. These are the images that convey that feeling of warmth to me like when you cover yourself up to shelter yourself from the cold, but the shiver still keeps you company. [Marco]
Quali altre band ispirano la vostra musica?
What other bands inspire your music?
Ciascuno di noi ha dei gusti musicali per certi aspetti molto differenti e quindi da un apporto diverso alla musica che facciamo. Da sempre però siamo riusciti a trovare anche molti punti di contatto, e il gruppo che ci ha più di tutti messo d’accordo sono i Biffy Clyro. La loro attitudine live e la loro capacità di scrivere canzoni estremamente curate in ogni particolare ci ha da sempre colpito ed è stata fonte di grande ispirazione. [Federico]
Each of us has musical tastes in some very different respects and therefore gives a different contribution to the music we make. However, we have always managed to find many points of contact, and the group that has most of all put us in agreement are the Biffy Clyro. Their live attitude and their ability to write songs extremely accurate in every detail has always impressed us and has been a source of great inspiration. [Federico]

Where have you performed?
In Umbria, la nostra regione madre, abbiamo suonato in tutti i principali live club (Urban, Afterlife, Supersonic, ecc.) e in tutti i principali festival musicali (Umbria Che Spacca, Antifestival, Chroma Festival ecc.). Non sono mancate ovviamente molte date fuori regione, ad esempio in Toscana (Karemaski, Mengo Music Fest) o a Roma (Contestaccio, Jailbreak Live Club). [Federico]
In Umbria, our mother region, we played in all the main live clubs (Urban, Afterlife, Supersonic, etc.) and in all the main music festivals (Umbria Che Spacca, Antifestival, Chroma Festival etc.). There were obviously many dates outside the region, for example in Tuscany (Karemaski, Mengo Music Fest) or in Rome (Contestaccio, Jailbreak Live Club). [Federico]
Come descrivereste una tipica giornata in studio?
How would you describe a typical day in the studio?
Di solito Marco è quello che supervisiona assiduamente qualsiasi sessione di registrazione per assicurarsi che tutto fili per il verso giusto. Gli altri invece sono sempre belli concentrati quando tocca loro registrare, mentre sono estremamente distratti quando invece non è il loro turno. [Federico]
Marco is usually the one who closely supervises any recording session to make sure everything runs smoothly. The others, on the other hand, are always beautifully concentrated when it is their turn to record, while they are extremely distracted when it is not their turn. [Federico]
A cosa state lavorando adesso?
What are you working on right now?
Abbiamo in cantiere tanto materiale che ci sta decisamente portando verso nuove sonorità, rappresentando per noi di sicuro una svolta e una crescita. Non appena saremo pronti, faremo uscire nuova musica. [Federico]
We have a lot of material in the pipeline that is definitely leading us towards new sounds, certainly representing a turning point and growth for us. As soon as we are ready, we will release new music. [Federico]
Cosa fate quando non suonate?
What do you do when you're not playing?
Tante, troppe cose. Alessandro, in questo momento, fa il parrucchiere e sta per aprire un allevamento di lumache; poi gioca a paddle e partecipa a tanti fantacalcio. Gloria lavora in una nota gastronomia locale, gioca a calcio e studia. Federico è un dottorando in scienze chimiche, organizza un festival e tante serate, gioca a tennis e va ad arrampicare. Tommaso si trova momentaneamente a Parma per ultimare un master in un’importante azienda farmaceutica italiana. Marco insegna musica a tanti giovani alunni, registra e produce promettenti band locali e ovviamente scrive tanta musica. [Federico]
Many, many things. Alessandro is currently a hairdresser and is about to open a snail farm; then he plays paddle and takes part in fantasy football. Gloria works in a well-known local gastronomy, plays football, and studies. Federico is a PhD student in chemical sciences, organizes a festival and many evenings, plays tennis, and goes climbing. Tommaso is temporarily in Parma to complete a master's degree in an important Italian pharmaceutical company. Marco teaches music to many young students, records and produces promising local bands and obviously writes a lot of music. [Federico]
