Young Italian singer Stefania Somma has been tied to music since she was a child. Through her music, she tells her story by using her voice and sensations. As time passed, her passion hasn’t changed and this brought her to release her single, “MIC DROP” on March 4, 2022.
La giovane cantante italiana Stefania Somma è legata alla musica fin da bambina. Attraverso la sua musica, racconta la sua storia usando la sua voce e le sue sensazioni. Col passare del tempo, la sua passione non è cambiata e questo l'ha portata a pubblicare il suo singolo, "MIC DROP" il 4 marzo 2022.
What inspired you to become a musician?
Cosa ti ha ispirato a diventare un musicista?
Turning our gaze to the past and looking at me as a child, we noticed how much the world of music and art in general affected me and my way of being. Over the years I have put myself to the test more and more and everything I have experienced has constantly made me grow artistically and not, and above all it inspired me. I was inspired by the air I breathed in those moments when I could express myself in the best way for me, singing, but to be a source of inspiration were also the artists I had always followed and listened to and who in a certain sense helped me to find my musical identity.
Volgendo lo sguardo al passato e guardando me da bambina, si notava quanto il mondo della musica e dell’arte in genere influisse su di me e sul mio modo di essere. Con il passare degli anni mi sono messa sempre più alla prova e tutto quello ho vissuto mi ha costantemente fatta crescere artisticamente e non, e soprattutto mi ispirava. Mi ispirava l’aria che respiravo in quei momenti in cui potevo esprimermi nel modo migliore per me, cantando, ma ad essere fonte di ispirazione erano anche gli artisti che da sempre seguivo ed ascoltavo e che mi hanno in un certo senso aiutata a trovare la mia identità musicale.
How old were you when you started playing (music)?
Quanti anni avevi quando hai iniziato a suonare?
It is a passion that I have cultivated since I was little and that has grown more and more over time, the main goal is to make passion my everyday life.
Feeling this feeling for music right away I think it is an advantage because it allows you to test yourself, make mistakes, understand, and grow artistically from an early age.
È una passione che coltivo sin da quando ero piccola e che con il passare del tempo è cresciuta sempre più, l’obbiettivo principale è fare della passione la mia quotidianità.
Sentire questo sentimento per la musica da subito credo che sia un vantaggio perché ti permette di metterti alla prova, sbagliare, comprendere e crescere artisticamente sin dalla tenera età.
How would you describe your music?
Come descriveresti la tua musica?
I would say that my music could be a momentary detachment from reality for the listener to then project himself into an atmosphere of serenity, fun and even reflection.
The goal is to free the mind from the bad thoughts and bad vibes that have overwhelmed us in this period and which fortunately we can say we have almost left them almost behind us.
La mia musica direi che potrebbe essere per l’ascoltatore un distacco momentaneo dalla realtà per poi proiettarsi in una atmosfera di serenità, divertimento e anche di riflessione.
L’obbiettivo è quello di liberare la mente dai cattivi pensieri e dalle bad vibes che in questo periodo ci hanno travolto e che per fortuna possiamo dire di averli quasi lasciati quasi alle nostre spalle.

I brought music to various places starting from various theaters, cinemas for some events but also in the square, sometimes some performances were accompanied by dance choreographies. Where would your ideal concert be?
Dov'è il luogo del tuo concerto ideale?
I think that the ideal place for my concert is first of all the people, with them the where and how would not have so much relevance.
All in all, theaters, amphitheaters and then perhaps one day arrive at the stadiums, are the best locations for the performances of all artists.
Credo che il luogo ideale per il mio concerto sia prima di tutto la gente, con loro il dove e il come non avrebbe poi così tanta rilevanza.
Tutto sommato teatri, anfiteatri per poi giungere magari un giorno agli stadi, sono le località migliori per le esibizioni di tutti gli artisti.
What is your favorite song to perform?
Qual è la tua canzone preferita da esibire?
For sure my song “MIC-DROP” because my identity would shine through on stage between notes and gestures, while if we talk about covers, I would start with “When I was your man” by Bruno Mars but again “Someone you loved” by Lewis Capaldi and I could continue for infinity.
Per certo il mio brano MIC-DROP perché trasparirebbe sul palco la mia identità tra le note e tra i gesti, mentre se parliamo di cover inizierei con “When I was your man” di Bruno Mars ma ancora poi “Someone you loved” di Lewis Capaldi e potrei continuare per l’infinito.
Which famous musicians do you admire?
Quali musicisti celebri ammiri?
The music both in Italy and abroad, fortunately presents a vast panorama of great artists, musicians, and singers; therefore, it is difficult to choose between them.
Having to highlight some of them, I would talk about Bruno Mars, Harry Styles, Stevie Wonder, Elton Jhon, Antonello Venditti and so on ...

What is the best advice you’ve been given?
Qual è il miglior consiglio che ti è stato dato?
Among the various tips, the thousand words of comfort and life lessons, for now I think that “never give up because you could do it a step before victory” is the motto that will accompany me forever.
It is one of the phrases that marked me most from the first moment, it gives me grit and strength.
Tra i vari consigli, le mille parole di conforto e insegnamenti di vita, per ora penso che il "non mollare mai perché potresti farlo un gradino prima della vittoria’’ sia il motto che mi accompagnerà per sempre.
È uno delle frasi che mi ha segnato maggiormente dal primo istante, mi trasmette grinta e forza.
If you could change something about the Music Industry, what would it be?
Se potessi cambiare qualcosa nel settore della musica, quale sarebbe?
Music is a very large and vast industry and like all things it has its pros and cons. It has many advantages, from my point of view, if I were to point out something that does not quite fit in the musical world it would be the standard possibilities that are offered to emerging artists beyond which it would be difficult to highlight one's artistic path.
La musica è un settore molto ampio e vasto e come tutte le cose presenta i suoi pro e i suoi contro. Di pro ne ha molti, per il mio punto di vista, se dovessi invece puntualizzare qualcosa che non quadra bene nel mondo musicale sarebbero le possibilità standard che vengono proposte agli artisti emergenti oltre alle quali risulterebbe difficile mettere in evidenza il proprio percorso artistico.
What is a message you would like to give to your fans?
Qual è un messaggio che vorresti dare ai tuoi fan?
To my fans after thanking them, I would like to send them messages both concerning the musical sphere and the maxims about life in general.
Live with lightness, carefree and above all seize the moment as life gives it to us, which does not mean superficiality but knowing how to find serenity within oneself that puts us in harmony with the world around us.
I also have the desire to meet and get to know each of them individually, I am sure it would enrich me morally.
Ai miei fan dopo averli ringraziati, vorrei lanciare loro dei messaggi sia che riguardino la sfera musicale che delle massime sulla vita in genere.
Vivere con leggerezza, spensieratezza e soprattutto cogliere il momento così come la vita ce lo regala, il che non vuol dire superficialità ma saper trovare la serenità dentro sé stessi che ci metta in armonia con il mondo che ci circonda.
Inoltre, ho il desiderio di incontrare e conoscere ognuno di loro singolarmente, sono certa che mi arricchirebbe moralmente.
